Joshua Liu is a York University alumni (Bsc 2009) currently in his 2nd year of medical school at the University of Toronto.
In 2004, Joshua founded SMARTS: the Youth Science Foundation Canada’s national youth science network and he previously sat on Shad International’s Board of Directors. He has extensive experience in student leadership and engaging young people in volunteerism. With a passion for sharing ideas, Joshua has spoken as a keynote, presenter and panelist at numerous conferences, and has shared the podium with the likes of Gerry Barr (Co-Chair of Make Poverty History Canada) and Toronto Mayor David Miller. Joshua has received numerous scholarships and awards, including the TD Canada Trust Scholarship for Community Leadership and being named as one of Canada’s “Top 20 Under 20″. Presently, Joshua is the co-lead of a project at UHN’s Centre for Innovation in Complex Care to map out the current state of avoidable hospitalization for complex patients in Ontario. He is also working with Toronto Western Hospital’s family health team to develop their Homebound Seniors Program. |
