Josh, that's a really great memory to look back on. When people focus their life on attaining certain goals, it's easy to lose the sense of self.

In the end, it's only that sense of self that allows you to make the connection between what you want and what's best for you in order to make realistic goals and at the same time be happy regardless of outcomes. It's that sense of self - not an amazing resume, wealthiness, or any other stellar quality - that helps you live a happy life. C:

Hey Taylor,

The Millennium have been doing interviews for quite some time now, and it's definitely a good sign =) Don't quote me on this, but I believe if you get a call, you're being considered for a Provincial or National Award.

Good luck!

Wow, that was really brave Joshua! And inspirational too!

Man, I really wish I had read this YESTERDAY because I am kind of commenting on this article because I have a question. I noticed that you have written a lot of articles on interviews lately and I know its a little random, but I was just wondering something about the Millenium scholarship. Are interviews a new component to the application? The Millenium scholarship committee called me yesterday to interview me and I was so unprepared. I really wish I could have just been more myself, instead of being so scared I was literally shaking. know I should think of it as a good thing, and I would if I had done the interview well, but no where in the application said that their was an interview component.

By the way... To Jackey, don't worry too much, just submit your choices and spots do become available. I am living proof of that because I got wait listed then got offered a spot at my first choice university campus. Lots of luck =)

Hey everyone,

Thanks for all of the kind comments. Wish I could say I have had more moments like this, but I can't really think of anything else that has come close. I should probably refrain from sharing any stories of my being selfish so that everyone keeps thinking I'm a super selfless human being =P

Jackey: I think that means you'll have to wait and see if a spot opens up. Good luck!

Doing something thoughtful to help our peers isn't particularly difficult ... but when that thoughtful act requires that we sacrifice our own happiness for the sake of another's - now that's another story! You're an inspiration for all of us =)

You're a good guy. You should have taken note of the look on everyone's face when you answered the last question. It would have been priceless :O)
