I think the best way is to explain exactly that – if your experience with your parents influenced you, then explain that very clearly – explain how and why they influenced you. If your explanation is convincing, then you have nothing to worry about. Good luck!

I feel like a lot of my understanding of the lifestyle and challenges of being physician comes from watching my parents practice/shadowing them, but I don’t want med schools to take this as “I wanna be a doctor because my parents are too”. So what’s your suggestion on mentioning the fact that my parents are both physicians?

I don't know the policies around shadowing. My best suggestion is to keep asking different doctors. I get the feeling policies are different at different places.

I just want to know how to go about shadowing a physician? I know that at etobicoke general hospital its against hospital policies…would it be at a clinic?
