Your website is truly inspiring and gives hope to all students out here.

I am in the process of applying for the TD Scholarship, and I know that I have the passion and the achievements; I just don’t know how to make my essay stand out of the pile. How do I catch my reader’s eye and their attention right from the beginning?

I would say it’s a combination of both, I don’t think they separate the one from the other. They are focused on finding young people dedicated to leadership in the community.

@Andrea: For Q1, the easiest way to answer is the truth – who really have you admired in your life? It doesn’t have to be someone famous to be a good answer. What’s important is showing you have learned from their experiences. As for 2, focus on your leadership experiences, and analyze the skills you’ve developed. And how have you used those skills to motivate others? These questions really are about YOUR story – your experiences from your life. Spend time reflecting on your experiences and writing those thoughts, feelings, and events down.

I am currently a grade 12 student and I just want to say that reading your blog has really helped me when applying for scholarships. Keep up the amazing work!

Can you please give me some pointers in answering these two following essay questions?

1.Describe your role model/idol and their leadership qualities, what have they inspired you to do? (Max 100 words)

2. What leadership qualities do you possess and how do you strive to inspire others? (Max 500)

I know that I can write a typical essay on leadership qualities and google someone amazing, but how do I write "my personal story" that will make me jump off the page?

I would really appreciate it if you could give me some pointers, as you are great at what you do. Thank-you!

I guess this a bit too late, sorry about that. But no, your essay doesn't need a title, so whether you did or didn't include one doesn't really matter.

I love your blog and all your tips. I have been closely following this page because I currently in the process of writing my TD scholarship essay. I was way over the word limit, but i managed to cut it down a bit. I was wondering if the essay needed a title. I would have requested that you take a look at my essay, but i believe that you are quite busy with med school. So i wish you best of luck.

do let me know if a title is needed though.

The hardest part of writing the essay for me is making it sound like a story while still getting all of the important points in. The second hardest part is keeping it under the max words. I'm currently 400 words over on my Queen's essay and it seems impossible to edit!
