I Have Co-op incorporated into my program, do you suggest trying to get a winter MCAT test to ride an "easier" bell curve or is there little to no difference when you take the MCAT?

Hey, thank you for writing this. I am planning on taking an MCAT prep course this coming summer and spending that whole summer studying. However, by then I still havent taken courses like biochemistry, physiology, physics II. And I cant afford to wait another year. I realize that for the MCAT they don't say that biochem/anatomy/physiology courses are pre-reqs but almost anyone who has taken it has told me that those classes are big help. So how does that work out? Are they lying to us?

I don't think it would help in verbal reasoning. From what I hear, Arts majors do the best on VR... so take that for what it's worth.

Hey Josh! Needed some advice: You took the course "Introduction to Logic" back in undergrad right? Do you think that course would help improve in Verbal Reasoning?

Thank you for your time!

Logical reasoning and reading comprehension are the most important part in the MCAT Preparation. The older MCAT material is very helpful for the students preparing for MCAT Exam. Also take writing section very seriously as most of the students fails in this section..

Hey Shelly and Josh,

This is the first time I am posting but I have been following this site and all the posts for quite some time now. I just want to say that you guys are awesome! All of your articles are very helpful and informative. It is a such a great thing that you guys are doing this and putting in so much effort to help students like us :D You guys truly are an inspiration to me.

I just want to get your opinion on something. Currently, I am in 2nd year of biochem at Mac and I am planning on doing my MCAT next summer (2011). Since I am also planning on applying for NSERC, I thought it would be a better idea to sort of start studying/practicing for MCAT now because if I do get the NSERC scholarship I would not be letting it go. So, I have already got some books (Kaplan, Examkrackers) to start practicing for verbal reasoning and writing sections. Do you guys think it is a good idea that I start working on these two sections right now (I am planning 2-3 hours every third day) because once its summer I want to focus more on the sciences and of course the research?

Thank you so much

Hi Shelly!

I started studying for my MCAT, coming up early september, about 2 months ago. I started at a score of 26, and now I'm at a 31. 11-10-10
I can't seem to improve my score any more though, and my goal is a 36. Any tips on how to improve the science ones, since I know Verbal can be difficult to increase any more than a point or maybe two at best.
I feel like I know the material pretty well now. There are things here and there that I'm reviewing but not sure what more to do!
Thanks!!!

Hey everyone,
I'm taking the August 20th MCAT, and I'm really freaked out. I took a prep course two years ago (Princeton Review), but after that, instead of taking the MCAT, I realized I wanted to explore my options. Now, that I've graduated from college I decided I want to try applying this summer. Since I didn't like how my Princeton Review teachers taught (they were pretty bad), and I still had the books I decided to tackle the material on my own. I can't say I was studying 10 hrs a day, but it's been two months and I'm doing HORRIBLE on the practice tests. I just started taking them two weeks ago and I'm truly embarrassed. I've made 21's consistently. I promise I'm not dumb, but this test makes me feel that way. I also made a huge mistake of not practicing enough during the two months of study, and have just started looking at verbal passages. But, now I'm so scared that 4 weeks to practice is not enough! I really screwed myself over :(

Hey Shelly,

I was wondering what classes you found the most helpful in preparing you for the mcat. Also, how did you fit all these courses into your first two years of college and when did you take your mcat prep class while you were taking all these courses? THANKKSSS!!!!!!
