Hey Yamna,

I'm glad you have a such persistent, determined attitude - that's probably the first step to getting back on track. It's true that your chances are probably hurt for schools like Ottawa or McMaster that look at all your grades, but I would focus on doing your best now for 3rd and 4th year, and then applying to Western and Queen's, and similar schools that look at your best two years.

Best of luck!

Moreover, best of luck, I would probably have to do another bachelor's degree if I should be realistic about applying to medical school. but this is something that I REALLY wanna do and i am willing to do whatever it takes. My grades didnt work out first year due to not being serious enough, and second year because of a serious medical circumstances. and I know that theres no chance for me now although my average is good now (3rd year) but I know its too late. Would you have any advice for someone like me or if you've ever come across someone like this.

Thanks Joshua...I have really messed up half of my unversity life although I had great plans and was a very good student. Bringing myself back on track is extremely hard. dreams of medical school are really far from me now but I am just not the kind of person who gives up no matter how bad it seems. Your advice is really helpful I think ive seen you adress a seminar at york.

By hardly teaching, I meant that shes REALLLLY generalizing alot of the content and like half the time we are joking around talking about her life, which clearly does not interest me. I have heard good things about her too..hopefully she'll be more serious once everything settles down more.

Anyways,

thanks for all the aid you've provided so far,
If anything else i'll definetly ask you.

Good luck.

Hi Raghav,

I guess I don't have that professor, but I had a similar experience. I agree just go to a few more classes and see if it's really textbook based before deciding anything else, but I would be surprised if it wasn't for 1st year microeconomics. I'm sure past tests are out there, but I don't know where to get them for economics. But usually the questions are like the ones in your textbook.

I've never had Noel before, but I have heard good things about her - what do you mean she's hardly teaching?

Best of luck!

Hey Raghav,

I'm good, thanks! Medical school is much busier than undergrad, but I think I'm adjusting okay.

Who is your economics professor? I think I had the same one and I stopped going to class because I couldn't understand anything anyways. For economics 1000 (I'm assuming this is microeconomics), I'm pretty sure you can just study off the textbook and not go to lecture.

I had a 4.0 in first year, 3.98 in second, and then a lot lower in 3rd year =P

Hey Joshua,

How are you? Howz med school coming along?
Med School has started and I seriously doubt you will have any time to be looking at posts on this website but ill ask anyway.
With all these studying techniques, i've managed to differentiate between the subjects where memorizing is needed ( bio 1010, psych 1010.) and where practise is essential (chem 1000/1001, math 1505) ...just economics is messing me up...like the prof..this lady has a really bad accent and like half the stuff no one understands and she reads off her powerpoint slides and says nothing more/extra that is useful...do you suggest I study and memorize/understand all concepts just from the testbook?..she said all her tests are multiple choice so yeah...its thhe economics 1000 course. I just want to know how you went about it...cause i remember you telling me you had an identical set of courses for ur first year at york. btw..if u dont mind me asking..what was ur gpa in each year at york?

thats all
thanks alot,
take care and have an enjoyable experience at med school :)
